Swift Creek Methodist Cemetery
This is the area of the Lee family.
The tall one on the left is for Wiley and Martha Pennington Lee.
The 2 brick graves are no longer identified.
Maybe 10% of the oldest graves in this cemetery can no longer be identified,
among them John Lee and 3rd wife, Sarah.

This stone has recently been placed in Swift
Creek Cemetary. Brenda Jones of Tampa was there in July, and sent me
this picture. I hope that someone with knowledge of this will contact
me.
"One thing I thought I would let you know is that there is
a new marker at Swift Creek Methodist Church Cemetery for John Lee.
Someone must have some info on where he was buried in order to place
this marker there. I was at Swift Creek last week and took a photo of
this marker. If I can get my scanner working, I can send it to you.
Since he died in 1880, it is obvious this is a new marker. It actually
looks like it has only been there a very very short time. I was reading
your web site and you had checked into it as far as not knowing where
he was buried and they were saying that they didn't have any records.
I would think someone would have to know where to put that marker and
not just put it down randomly. But that is just my thought."
I asked her where the marker was placed.....according to the above picture:
"The tall marker to the very left of your picture. I believe
behind that slightly and to the left of it. Very near the trees on that
side. If my recollection is correct. I know it's near the trees on the
left side of the cemetery. There was a long row of Lee's with flat stones.
Lee's that just had initials. I think A.C, N. C., W.H. etc. Anyway I
think those were to the left of the tall marker and John Lee marker
was right behind them. It definitely is not hard to find. Since it's
so new, it kind of stood out." |
